Magnification: The magnification tells you how many times closer an object will appear when viewing it through your binoculars. For example, binoculars with 8x42 magnifications will make objects appear eight times closer.
Objective Diameter: This refers to the diameter of the lens and is an indication of how much light the binoculars will take in. Looking at the example of 8x42 above, the 8 refers to the magnification while the 42 refers to the diameter of the lens in millimeters.
Eye Relief: The eye relief is how close the eyepiece of the binoculars rest from the user’s eye. Eye relief is particularly important for people who where glasses.
